Federalism Final Presentation

Federalism Final Presentation

Students from Mr. Sandoval's 9th Grade U.S. History class who helped to create a "Field Guide to Federalism" presented it to their peers at the Academy of Urban Planning.

To create the booklet students hit the streets of Bushwick with teaching artist Stephen Fiehn to find evidence of what federal, state, and city government looks like on the ground. They visited a neighborhood liquor store, bodega, bank, supermarket, and army recruiting office and used illustrations and photographs to break down product regulations, licenses, and liquor laws as they relate to different levels of government.

At the event they presented the Field Guide and led their peers in several design activities that look at federalism's role in the neighborhood.
