Introducing What Is FAR?

Introducing _What Is FAR?_

We’re excited to announce our latest tool in our Envisioning Development program, What Is FAR?  A companion to our What Is Zoning? Toolkit, What is FAR? is an online, interactive tool to help community members get a grip on the slippery concept of Floor Area Ratio.

What Is FAR? lets you manipulate virtual blocks as it takes you step-by-step through the process of how Floor Area Ratio controls the size of your building. It also shows how the city applies FAR’s other building-size-controlling cousins: lot coverage, setbacks, and height limits. Our Zoning Toolkit was designed specifically for New York City, but What Is FAR? can be used no matter where you call home.

Click here for more information about the project and try the tool yourself!
