From sexist street harassment to racist comments to intimidating looks, all forms of harassment violate our shared right to safety in public space. That right isn’t something we can take for granted—we all play a role in protecting each other from harassment and making public space safe for everyone.

A common barrier people face in intervening when they see harassment is simply not knowing what to do. That’s why CUP, Hollaback!, and designer Leah Garlock teamed up to create Show Up, a pocket-sized guide to bystander intervention. Show Up breaks down bystander intervention into easy-to-remember actions anyone can take, drawing from the curriculum Hollaback! has used to train bystanders all over the world.

Show Up launched at a bystander intervention training hosted by Cornell’s ILR School in November 2017. Hollaback! is distributing over 9,000 copies of the guide through trainings and outreach across the U.S.
