Thank you to our outgoing board chair, David Smiley!

Thank you to our outgoing board chair, David Smiley!

Just before Covid struck, our board chair let us know he planned to step down soon. Two months later, we were in full quarantine mode, and he very generously agreed to stay on longer to help us navigate the pandemic and put our new leadership structure in place.

So we would like to extend our endless gratitude to our long-serving, endlessly cheerleading, #1superfan and supporter, and Board Chair, David Smiley, who is stepping down after 13 years as a board member.

It’s hard to imagine CUP being where it is today without David’s presence at almost every public event and his unfailing passion for our mission. He and his partner, Lauren Kogod, have supported CUP in profound ways since its inception 20 years ago. We are so grateful to them both. We hope you’ll join us later this Spring in honoring David’s service to CUP and sending him off with a proper celebration.

In the meantime, all of us on the CUP staff and board thank you, David, for all you’ve done for CUP. We wouldn’t be the same without you.
