Remote but Resilient – Students in Action!

Remote but Resilient - Students in Action!

We may be remote, but we're definitely resilient! Our Fall and Winter Youth Education projects are in full swing. CUP is collaborating with students across NYC to investigate social justice ranging from how school resources impact mental health to the limits of protest. Teaching Artists and students have been collaborating remotely to interview stakeholders, make art, and imagine new possibilities for New York City. Check out some of the topics they’re investigating!

How school resources impact student mental health, with students at Life Sciences Secondary School and Teaching Artist Stephen Kwok.

The role and limits of protest in NYC with students at Bronx School for Law, Government, and Justice and Teaching Artist Hugo Rojas.

Police accountability in NYC with students from the Red Hook Community Justice Center and Teaching Artist Marianna Olinger. Learn more about the project and watch their film here!

CUP Home Movies! This winter, CUP collaborated with eight Teaching Artists to create civically-engaged art activites to do at home! All activities can be done using basic household supplies. CUP debuted these videos with students and teachers from the International Community High School in the Bronx. Check out the videos here!

How digital equity and remote learning during COVID-19 impact school communities, with students at KAPPA International High School and Teaching Artist Stephanie Eche, kicks off at the end of February.

Stay tuned for more updates on these projects!
