Kit What Is ULURP?

This workshop toolkit includes a set of activities that break down ULURP, the different players involved, and the role each plays in the decision-making process.

Inside the toolbox are all the pieces you need to get hands-on with the process, as you take a sandwich through the layers of government and public review required by ULURP. A felt wall chart and player markers make it easy for all participants to see the different approval phases. The included 168-page guidebook uses simple diagrams and case studies to show how ULURP works and provides step-by-step instructions on how to role play the ULURP process. The toolkit’s modules can be used to configure a workshop focused on your group’s specific neighborhood or organizing goals, so you can lead your own workshops and discussions on how you would re-envision your neighborhood.

CUP designed the toolkit in collaboration with designers Lynn Kiang and Katie Lee of Dome and an advisory group of dozens of local organizations and advocacy groups. Get yours today!

You can also hire CUP to conduct a workshop for your group.

CUP is committed to helping housing advocates, community boards, and others teach their constituents about land use and development. This toolkit is available at the subsidized price for community-based groups. Contact mark(at)welcometocup.org for more information and to find out if you qualify.

  • Includes ULURP Felt Wall Chart, Player Markers for Wall Chart, Sandwich Diagram, Role Cards, Pre-Process Scripts, Player Background Cards, Tent Cards, Paddles, ULURP Voting Ballot, Who’s Who Handout, ULURP Process Handout and 169-page guidebook in a 17-3/4” x 15-1/2” x 4-1/2” toolbox.
